Terms and Conditions Sweet Designs Cake and Cupcakes

 You can review the most current version of the Terms & Conditions at any time on this page. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to update, change or replace any part of these Terms & Conditions by posting updates and changes to our website. It is your responsibility to check our website periodically for changes. Your continued use of or access to our website or the Service following the posting of any changes to these Terms & Conditions constitutes acceptance of those changes.

Health and Safety

 Some Cakes contain small parts and therefore are not suitable for young children.

Non-Edible Items

Most cakes contain small proportions of inedible items; it is the client’s responsibility to ensure these are removed by your caterer/guests before consumption e.g. Support dowels in tiered cakes, ribbon, wires in sugar flowers, flower picks & flower tape etc.

Some flowers, like Ivy, are poisonous and not suitable for use on food products, you should notify your flower supplier of your intention to use the flowers on food to ensure that non-poisonous flowers are used. Please note that we do not supply fresh flowers for cakes.

 Special Diets

 Please discuss with us if you or any of your guests have special dietary requirements.

Please be aware that although ingredients such as nuts can be removed from the cakes, they are still used in our kitchen so we cannot guarantee that any of our cakes are completely free of them.


Place your order online and to avoid disappointment please place it as early as possible.

On occasion, we can accommodate last minute orders, but it is always best to order basic cakes and cupcakes at least 2 weeks in advance and anything that is a custom or specialty item, 4-6 weeks in advance. All of our cakes are made to order on a first come, first serve basis.

Alteration & Changes

It is your responsibility to read & check the quote thoroughly; any amendments to design should be made in writing. If requested, we will endeavour to adjust the design where possible, but sometimes this is not possible according to the nature of the request or amount of notice given. If the alteration affects the cost, or preparation work for the original design has already been undertaken, then your balance will be adjusted accordingly. Please warn us when you pay your deposit if you are undecided on the design.

We reserve the right to change the design at any point if circumstances beyond our control, may compromise the quality of the finished cake, e.g. Melting due to weather.

Each cake is made individually by hand, so although every effort is made to ensure consistency, a small amount of variation may occur from the design requested.

Portion Guide

Our portion guides are intended as a guide only. This will vary dependent upon how the chef cuts the cake. Any weights, dimensions and capacities given about the goods are approximate only.

Acceptance of Orders

 Sweet Designs reserves the right to accept or reject orders at its discretion.


Please remember that cake decorations are very delicate items, and we cannot accept responsibility for damage that is done to the cake after it has left our premises.

Tiered cakes are most at risk during transport. To ensure your cake is as fresh as possible, we recommend it be collected the day before the event.  Fondant cakes and cupcakes should be stored in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight and humidity to avoid any deterioration to the designs, cakes should not be refrigerated, as it will cause condensation to form on the surface of the icing. Refrigeration also accelerates the staling of the flour in the cake.

Please note: We do not deliver any cakes to venues.


To secure your order with Sweet Designs, a 50% deposit is required on all orders.

Balances are due before collection of cakes or cupcakes. Payment may be arranged on the day, but only by prior agreement to do so with Sweet Designs.

All quotes are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated. Cancellations must be received in writing. Cancellations are only permitted more than 7 days prior to the pickup date. Any cancellations made within 7 days prior to the pickup date are non-refundable so will forfeit the entire deposit amount.

Once the deposit is paid, the quoted price remains fixed to the details listed in the quote. However if changes are requested, which involve more cost/time and effort, Sweet Designs reserves the right to amend the initial quote, and additional charges may apply/ be sent to the client. If agreement on the final design cannot be reached at this stage, normal cancellation terms will apply.

Sweet Designs accepts Direct Bank Transfers as forms of payment. Payment is only considered made upon clearance of funds.
